Pigmentation & Melasma Treatment in Dwarka: What Actually Clears It
Honest guide to treating pigmentation and melasma on Indian skin in Dwarka. What works, what makes it worse, realistic timelines and 2026 prices.
Pigmentation is the concern we treat most after hair fall and acne. Those stubborn brown or grey patches on the cheeks, the dark shadow above the lip, uneven tone that foundation can’t fully hide. On Indian skin it’s incredibly common, and it’s also the concern most often made worse by the wrong treatment.
Let’s separate what genuinely clears pigmentation from what quietly damages your skin.

Know your pigmentation — they’re not the same
“Pigmentation” is an umbrella word. The treatment changes completely depending on which type you actually have.
Melasma — symmetrical brownish patches, usually on the cheeks, forehead and upper lip. Hormonally driven (pregnancy, the pill, but also sun and heat). The most stubborn type, and the one most easily worsened by aggressive treatment. Managed, not “cured.”
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) — dark marks left behind by acne, an insect bite, a burn, or a harsh treatment. These do fade, with the right help.
Sun-induced pigmentation / tanning — uneven darkness from years of Delhi sun. Responds well to a combination approach.
Freckles & sun spots — small defined spots. Respond nicely to laser.
If a clinic offers you the same “pigmentation laser package” without telling you which of these you have, be cautious — melasma in particular can flare badly under the wrong laser.
What actually works
A medically structured topical routine (the real foundation)
Most pigmentation responds first and best to the right combination of actives — used at the right strength, in the right order, under supervision. This is the unglamorous core of every real result. Lasers and peels sit on top of this, they don’t replace it.
Chemical peels (calibrated for Indian skin)
Mandelic, lactic and other gentle peels lift surface pigment and even out tone over a course. The key word is gentle and gradual — strong glycolic peels on melasma-prone Indian skin can backfire into more pigment. From around ₹2,500 a session at Brightonic.
Q-Switch laser (for the right cases)
For sun spots, freckles, and some stubborn pigment, Q-Switch breaks down excess melanin so your body clears it. For melasma it’s used carefully and selectively — sometimes it helps, sometimes it’s not the right tool, and an honest clinic will tell you which. From ₹4,000 a session. See Q-Switch.
HydraFacial with brightening infusion
Good as a supportive treatment — deep cleanse plus brightening serums that lift dullness and support the overall plan. From ₹4,500. See HydraFacial.
What makes pigmentation WORSE (we see it weekly)
This is the part that matters most, because the damage is often self-inflicted with good intentions.
- Skipping sunscreen. This is the number one reason pigmentation won’t shift. UV and even visible light drive melanin. No SPF means you’re treating and re-triggering at the same time. Mineral SPF 50 every morning is non-negotiable.
- Lemon, baking soda, and “natural” acid packs. They photosensitise the skin and deepen pigment within weeks.
- Over-exfoliating and scrubbing. Inflammation makes Indian skin produce more pigment. Gentle wins.
- Hydroquinone bought over the counter, used endlessly. It has a place under supervision for short courses — but unsupervised long-term use can cause its own stubborn discoloration.
- Aggressive lasers / strong peels on melasma. The classic disaster: it looks better for two weeks, then rebounds darker. Melasma rewards patience, not power.
- Steroid “fairness” creams. They thin the skin and cause lasting damage. Please avoid.

The goal: even tone and clarity that holds — not a quick fix that rebounds.
A realistic timeline
Pigmentation is a marathon. Honest expectations:
- PIH (acne marks, bites): 2–4 months with a proper routine.
- Sun spots / freckles: A few laser sessions over 2–3 months.
- Melasma: Ongoing management. Real improvement over 3–6 months, then maintenance to hold it. Anyone promising to “remove melasma permanently in a few sessions” is overselling.
The daily habits that decide your result
A clinic treatment is maybe 30% of the outcome. The other 70% is daily:
- Mineral SPF 50 every morning, reapplied if you’re out. The single biggest lever.
- Antioxidant serum (vitamin C) in the morning to fight pigment formation.
- A wide-brim hat or umbrella for the Delhi sun — light drives melasma even through glass.
- Consistency. Stopping and restarting is why most home efforts fail.
Key takeaway: The type of pigmentation decides the treatment. Sunscreen every morning is the single biggest lever — without it, you’re treating and re-triggering at the same time. Melasma is managed, not “cured” in a few sessions.
