What it is

Skin loosens along the jawline and neck before it loosens anywhere else — that’s usually the first thing people notice, often in photographs rather than the mirror.

HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) targets that early laxity without cutting anything. Focused ultrasound energy passes through the skin’s surface and deposits heat in a deeper support layer. That controlled heating is a signal: the body responds by laying down new collagen over the following months.

The surface is never broken. That’s the whole appeal — and also the honest limit of what it can do.

How it works

Ultrasound energy is delivered at set depths in short pulses. You feel brief warm prickles as each line is placed, more noticeable over bone along the jaw.

The response is biological, not mechanical. Nothing is pulled tight on the day. Over the weeks that follow, new collagen forms in the treated layer and the tissue gradually firms.

That is why the timeline matters more than the appointment.

Some people benefit from a second session once the first has fully matured. We decide that at review, not in advance.

Who it genuinely suits

Early laxity. A softening jawline, the beginnings of a loosening neck, mild crepiness. This is where HIFU does its best work.

People who won’t consider surgery. No incisions, no anaesthesia, no recovery period — you can return to work the same day.

Maintenance. Some clients treat once and return in a year or two as part of keeping ahead of change.

Who it does not suit — and we will say so

We turn people away for this regularly, so it’s worth stating plainly.

Significant sagging. If there is genuine excess skin, HIFU cannot lift it. It is not a substitute for a surgical facelift and pretending otherwise wastes your money. We would rather tell you that at the desk.

Anyone expecting an immediate result. If you need to look different for an event next week, this is the wrong treatment. Book a HydraFacial instead.

It is also not appropriate during pregnancy, over active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, over implants or metal in the zone, or on skin mid-recovery from another procedure.
